Enough
04:17
|

I must admit there are things that I ignore.
Some days I’m more open and I have more hope.
I try to be grateful and give when I can.
But sometimes I fall short.
I find myself drowning in other people’s despair.
Some days I want to stay inside
And pretend that I am somewhere else
But I know that it will get me nowhere
Ever enough, ever enough, ever enough
Ever enough, ever enough, ever enough
We try to make amends and we do the best we can
Will it ever be, be enough?
I like to stay current but sometimes I’m overwhelmed.
I wonder if we have to choose and tune out the rest
It’s the daily attention, the love and forgiveness
That keeps us strong
I did a good thing for someone I didn’t know
Because I remember when it was me that needed something from someone and a stranger came to my rescue.

Sueño

No me despiertan de este sueño.
Nunca he sentido esta felicidad.
No me despiertan de este sueño.
No hay palabras para explicar.
Este regalo maravilloso
Que se llama VIDA
Agradecimiento infinito
Explotando por dentro
Tienes que dar si quieres recibir
Esta vida preciosa
Hay que cuidarla
Todo sale mejor si cuidamos el uno del otro

History

It's only a matter of time.
Before someone tells a story.
Don’t you think your point of view
is the selector of your memory?
We can’t press rewind
To collect what’s left behind
The problem with history
Is that someone’s always starting in the middle of the story
I’d like to know who wrote the book
Because I like to check my sources
Those we’ve lost don’t have a voice
Stuck with taking your word for it
We can’t press rewind
To collect what’s left behind
The problem with history
Is that someone’s always starting in the middle of the story

Painted Pictures

You made me feel like I was there
I knew those people, I knew their lives
I really felt what they had been through
I can see them when I close my eyes
Some things you don’t have to say twice
Your words paint pictures in my mind
They are better than any movie I could ever see
You recreate what I believe
You wrote the book, you made me see
You made the stories come alive
Like I could see with my own eyes
You took me to place that I had never been to
Now I can't just walk away
I fell beneath the weight of concrete lines
You paralyzed me with your ways

SLV New York, New York
Chicana songwriter Sandra Lilia Velasquez blurs the dividing lines of rock, pop, r&b and experimental digi-funk. Singing, and sometimes rapping, in Spanish, SLV's new album PIECE OF MIND, is a reflection on the current state of affairs.
